TWO former Cherries stars have been named in England's squad for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.

Gareth Southgate's Three Lions head off to compete in the tournament later this month.

They will begin their campaign against Iran on November 21, before also facing USA and Wales in Group B.

And there are two former Cherries players among Gareth Southgate's 26-man squad.

One of the standout selections in the travelling party is striker Callum Wilson.

The Newcastle United forward has been in fine form under Eddie Howe this season, scoring six goals in 10 Premier League appearances.

Wilson made his England debut whilst a Cherries player in 2018, scoring in a friendly against USA at Wembley.

He has four caps to his name in total, but the last came way back in October 2019.

The 30-year-old has struggled with injuries, but has hit form at just the right time, selected in the squad ahead of Roma's Tammy Abraham and Brentford striker Ivan Toney.

Another former Cherries man in the squad is goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

Now with Arsenal, Ramsdale is sitting top of the Premier League table and is set to compete with Jordan Pickford and Nick Pope as he seeks to add his three senior England caps.

Poole-born Ben White, the Arsenal defender, has also been included in the 26-man squad.
