AUSSIE ace Ben Cook insisted Pirates would be “all fired up” for their SGB Championship finale at Leicester and declared: “We can do the job.”

The Cowra-born racer totalled five points in Poole’s 49-41 first-leg victory over the Lions on Wednesday, despite suffering mechanical gremlins in heat six.

Pirates were trailing ahead of the final three heats at Wimborne Road, before staging a stellar comeback.

And Cook insisted his team would put it all on the line when they make the trip to Beaumont Park tomorrow (6pm).

Asked whether he felt his side had enough of a lead, Cook told the Daily Echo: “Yeah. We were probably hoping for 10 or more but eight, we will take that.

“It’s going to be tough. They are going to be putting everything on the line but so are we. We are all fired up and I feel like we can do the job.”

Having already won the Knockout Cup, Pirates are still on for a domestic treble this season, should the Jubilee League final against Leicester be staged.

Asked what winning three trophies would mean to him, Cook replied: “That was the goal, to get all three whether the Jubilee happens.

“We are just focusing on the main one now. Saturday is the day and hopefully we can bring it back to Poole.”
