GOALKEEPER Luke Cairney was shown a straight red card as Poole Town were pegged back to draw 1-1 at Hayes & Yeading United.

Toby Holmes put the visitors ahead, before Mo Bettamer's headed equaliser just before the hour mark.

However, seconds after Bettamer's effort hit the back of the net, Cairney was given his marching orders after a scuffle with Hayes frontman Adam Liddle, who was also dismissed.

Back-up keeper Will Butler came on for Tom Killick's Dolphins, and helped his side secure a point.

There was just one change to the side which drew at Chesham United at the weekend with Harry Hutchinson coming in to start, with Will Spetch not involved.

Adeoye Olumuyiwa kept his place, having turned his loan move from Farnborough into a permanent one earlier in the day.

Hayes were without prolific frontman Moses Emmanuel due to injury, with Aston Villa loanee Tristan Abldeen-Goodridge making his debut.

Holmes came close to breaking the deadlock, denied by a fine sliding challenge from Charlie Wassmer.

The striker did get on the scoresheet soon after, latching onto a long ball from Cairney before finishing well across goal.

Bettamer almost equalised before the break, seeing his shot come back off the face of the post before Hutchinson hacked clear.

Cairney then made a good save to preserve his clean sheet, his legs denying Wassmer.

Declan Rose almost doubled Poole's tally, his well-struck long-range effort brilliantly tipped away by goalkeeper Rhys Byrne.

The scores were levelled when Bettamer's header deflected in, sparking a confrontation between Cairney and Liddle. Referee Jack Bloxham went to his pocket, producing two red cards.

Killick sacrificed Holmes for young stopper Butler, who himself had his name taken by the referee, booked for bringing down Bruno Tavares.

He then made a late stop from Bettamer's free-kick as the spoils were shared.

Poole are now unbeaten in eight league matches and sit fourth in the Southern Premier South table, ahead of tonight's fixtures.
