POOLE Town are looking to bounce back straight away following a week of disappointment, according to boss Tom Killick.

Dolphins were dumped out of the FA Trophy at the first hurdle last Saturday by Winchester City, before throwing away a 2-0 lead at home to Bracknell on Tuesday, the away side scoring twice in injury time to snatch a point.

They face Hartley Wintney at home tomorrow (kick-off 3pm).

When asked if he was looking for a response from his players, Killick told the Daily Echo: “It’s all we can do (bounce back).

“We’ve always talked about how it is a funny old league, draws in this league are not the end of the world.

"Whether it is home or away, we have to just keep picking up points, picking up points.

“Now, Saturday does take on even more significance, because it is another home game and we just desperately need three points.”

Now out of the FA Cup and FA Trophy, Poole’s primary focus for the rest of the campaign will be a promotion push in the Southern League Premier South.

“The thing that changes the whole fortune of football clubs and players’ careers is promotion,” restarted Killick.

“Because you reap the benefits of it every match you play for the next season and hopefully seasons to come.

“The big deal is always the league. Cup competitions will always be a gloss, but that's not me trying to minimize the disappointment.

“We have to live with it.

“We just have to throw ourselves into the league games.”
