GARY O'Neil believes Leicester City currently sit in a false position in the Premier League, insisting: "I don't expect them to be anywhere near the bottom of the table come the end of the season."

Leicester collected just one point from their opening seven league matches this season, and sat at the foot of the pile ahead of Monday night's clash with east Midlands rivals Nottingham Forest.

Brendan Rodgers's Foxes produced a dominant display to win 4-0 and leapfrog Steve Cooper's Tricky Trees and will now head to Vitality Stadium this weekend on a high.

Discussing the challenge posed by Leicester on Saturday (3pm), Cherries' interim boss O'Neil said: "I think having watched all their games they were very unfortunate to be on one point before the Forest game.

"Against Man United (a 1-0 defeat) they were dominant. Controlled the ball, a really good side.

"They were very, very good away at Tottenham (a 6-2 defeat), lost very late on but were the dominant side.

"They're a very good team. The result against Nottingham Forest didn't surprise me.

"I thought that was coming for them.

"I expected them to turn it around and I don't expect them to be anywhere near the bottom of the table come the end of the season.

"Looking at how they've played the last few weeks, they've got a top coach, top players, so it's going to be a real test for us."

James Maddison starred for the Foxes on Monday night, providing two goals and an assist against Forest.

Asked if he feels the midfielder should be part of the England squad for this winter's World Cup, O'Neil said: "I hope Saturday dents his chances!

"But I haven't really thought about it. I don't know.

"There's so many good players in and around it.

"I haven't looked at the numbers or who should or who shouldn't go. I’ll stick to picking my own squad."
