GARY O'Neil provided some encouraging injury news, revealing both Ben Pearson and Joe Rothwell had trained with the squad ahead of this weekend's clash against Leicester City.

Pearson suffered a knee injury during the 9-0 defeat to Liverpool in August, while Rothwell is yet to make his competitive Cherries debut, following his summer arrival from Blackburn Rovers.

But interim boss O'Neil confirmed the midfield duo are closing in on a return.

"They’ve had a really good week," said O'Neil.

"Both of them have trained all week with us. It will be really good to get them back out there, so that’s been a positive."

Junior Stanislas and Ryan Fredericks were both absent from the matchday squad to face Brentford last weekend.

Discussing the pair's fitness, O'Neil added: "They’ve both had good weeks.

"Ryan Fredericks has been really promising, on the grass, done some really good work.

"Junior is coming along as well. Maybe not quite so far along as Ryan, Ben and Joe. But Junior has made good strides."

One player who will again not be fit to feature is captain Lloyd Kelly.

The 24-year-old has not featured since the 3-2 win at Nottingham Forest more than a month ago, having suffered an ankle injury in training.

"Lloyd won’t be with us again this weekend," said O'Neil.

"He’s obviously a week closer than he was last week, but this weekend comes too quick for him."
