GARY O'Neil insists hard work and not lucky attire has been the key to his unbeaten start as Cherries' interim boss.

O'Neil replaced Scott Parker at the helm in late August and has overseen one victory and three draws from his four matches in charge.

His efforts saw him nominated for the Premier League manager of the month award for September.

During Parker's unbeaten start to life as Cherries boss last season, he admitted he took to saluting magpies and wearing the same grey jacket for fixtures which had brought success in the past.

O'Neil has worn the same Cherries club shop polo shirt for each of his four fixtures in charge so far.

Asked if he now considers it a lucky garment he will stick with for future games, O'Neil told the Daily Echo: "No, it’s just the only one I’ve got!

"The only thing that I’m superstitious about is you get results from hard work. I’ve worked hard the last four weeks. So have the boys, so have the staff. And we’ve got results.

"So, stick to that superstition, work hard again this week and see if we can get another one."

Cherries host Leicester City on Saturday (3pm).
