SIBLINGS Ben and Zach Cook are both hoping to secure a place in the SGB Premiership next season, as well as keeping up their other league commitments.

The Aussie brothers have been in fine form for Pirates this campaign, helping them into the SGB Championship play-off final, as well as the finals of the Knockout Cup and Jubilee League.

Both based with team boss Neil Middleditch in Sturminster Marshall, Zach has represented Torun in the Under-24 Ekstraliga in Poland this season, as well as fulfilling a guest booking for Premiership Belle Vue earlier in the campaign.

Speaking about his plans for next season, alongside riding in the Championship, former Plymouth man Zach told the Daily Echo: “I’m looking to go up in the top league in the UK as well, which I need to sort of start working that out.

“I will be in Poland next year as well for the under-24 league again.

“I will be even busier next year, which is good. You can’t have enough time on the bike I don’t think and it sort of pays off when you are always on the bike all week.

“We just have to wait and see, tell everyone what’s going on, put the feelers out and hopefully something comes of it and hopefully something happens next year.”

Older brother Ben revealed how his visa situation did not allow him to feature in the top flight in Britain this campaign, but he was set to rectify the problem ahead of 2023.

He has banged in two paid maximums in his past two home meetings for Pirates, in league and cup semi-finals against Leicester and Glasgow respectively.

“Performing at big meetings definitely helps,” said Ben, when asked about putting himself in the shop window for a Premiership place.

“I am not putting too much pressure on myself, if it comes it comes. The time will come but I am not putting any pressure on it.

“Obviously I want the opportunity. I’ll just keep taking every meeting as it comes and see what comes of it.

“This season hasn’t finished yet. In the next coming weeks, I suppose, they will be starting to look and decide what’s going to happen for next year.

“I am just a rider. I will let them do that part and hopefully the call comes.”

Both brothers are set to be in action as Pirates make the trip to Redcar Bears in the Championship Knockout Cup final on Friday (7.30pm).
