EVEN though Saturday’s game was missing the most important statistic in football – goals – there are still plenty of interesting facts and figures stemming from the 0-0 draw between Cherries and Brentford.

Gary O’Neil remained unbeaten as interim boss, stretching his record to three draws and a win from his four games in charge, with Cherries adding another point to their tally for the campaign.

On current track, Cherries will end the season on 42 points, based on a point per game (PPG) of 1.1. That total would be more than enough to secure survival in all but one of the 20 previous Premier League seasons, whilst also matching Cherries’ first return of points in their maiden top-flight campaign back in 2015-16.

That being said, Cherries have already recorded a third of the draws Eddie Howe’s side finished with that season, with three draws in eight games compared to the nine stalemates over the course of a full 38-match season.

Aside from league positions and points totals, here are a few more interesting titbits.

7 – Cherries have now played Brentford in seven different competitions – Premier League, Championship, League One, League Two, EFL Trophy, FA Cup, and League Cup. The only other teams Cherries have faced in those same seven competitions are Brighton and Swansea.

109 – On a similar note, Saturday’s game was the 109th unique fixture to have been played in all four tiers of the professional game.

3 – Cherries failed to find the back of the net for a third consecutive home game – the first time they have drawn a blank three games in a row at home in the Premier League.

19 – Brentford had failed to have kept a clean sheet in 19 Premier League away games leading up to Saturday’s stalemate, with their last shut out on the road coming back in September 2021, in a 2-0 win away at Wolves.

58 – Chris Mepham has made 58 clearances so far this season in the Premier League. Across Europe’s big five leagues (Premier League, Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A, and Ligue 1), only Everton’s James Tarkowski has made more (62).

2 – Thomas Bramall took charge of his second ever Premier League game on Saturday. His top-flight debut came at the end of August, with Fulham’s 2-1 win over Brighton.

13 – The blank scoreline was just the 13th time Cherries have shared a 0-0 draw in the Premier League out of 198 games. The most they have recorded in a single season is three (2015-16 & 2019-20), with two 0-0s already this term.

233 - Since the name change to AFC Bournemouth in 1971-72, Cherries have recorded 233 0-0 draws (including ties decided by penalties). The most they have recorded in a single season in all competitions is nine, on four occasions.
