MIDDLESBROUGH are reportedly “interested” in Cherries interim boss Gary O’Neil as they begin their search for a new manager.
The Teessiders sacked Chris Wilder on Monday morning, following Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Coventry City.
And, according to the Northern Echo, Boro are “investigating the possibility of prising O’Neil from his current position as interim boss at Bournemouth”.
O’Neil, who spent four years as a player at Middlesbrough, is unbeaten in four games in charge of Cherries following the sacking of Scott Parker back in August.
He initially joined Cherries’ staff in February 2021 as a first-team coach under former Middlesbrough manager Jonathan Woodgate.
The Northern Echo also reports Middlesbrough are set to speak to former Watford boss Rob Edwards about the vacant position after he was sacked last week.
The likes of former Huddersfield head coach Carlos Corberan and ex-Burnley boss Sean Dyche have also been linked with the position at the Riverside.
