BRENTFORD boss Thomas Frank agreed with the decision for Chris Mepham to be named man-of-the-match on Saturday, adding: "I'm always happy to see former players do well."
Cherries centre-back Mepham shone as he helped his side to a 0-0 draw against his former employers at Vitality Stadium.
His display earned him the Cherries man-of-the-match award from the matchday sponsors, the latest in a list of plaudits for the 24-year-old this season.
Mepham got his break in professional football with Brentford, debuting under Dean Smith in 2017.
He then made 10 appearances under Frank, who took the Bees hotseat in 2018, before Cherries came calling and snapped up Mepham for a fee of around £12million in January 2019.
Speaking about Mepham being announced as man-of-the-match, Frank told the Daily Echo: "I think that was well deserved.
"I think he was good. Ivan (Toney) is a handful and I think he did well against Ivan in many ways.
"Also, I think it was offside when Shandon Baptiste was through, but it was still Meps who was coming across sliding to block the shot.
"I think he performed well. I’m always happy to see former players do well."
