CHRIS Mepham highlighted how his side will not be content to sit back and allow teams to impose themselves on Cherries, claiming they will not “let teams have their own way.”

The Cherries backline was impervious with Mepham recording some vital blocks as they picked up a third clean sheet of the season against Brentford, sharing a point in a blank draw.

Although neither side were dominant, there was a sense of frustration for Cherries as two strong penalty shouts were denied, whilst they also saw Jefferson Lerma’s goal bound header cleared before crossing the line.

Chances were at a premium for both sides, with Brentford’s Ivan Toney spurning a golden opportunity when one-on-one with Neto.

Reflecting on the game, Mepham told the Daily Echo: “As an individual I felt good out there.

“I think as a team we wanted to try and create more today, be better on the ball.

“The manager’s touched on it - we're not looking to be that team this year where we just sit in and let teams have their own way.

“We've shown the last couple of games that we can be a real threat to the opposition, but I think for some reason today we lacked a bit of quality in certain moments and that was disappointing.

“But the nice thing is to come away with a clean sheet.

“I think the draw is probably a fair result.”
