GARY O’Neil is once again listed as favourite with the bookmakers to become Cherries’ next permanent head coach.

The market move comes after Chris Wilder, who was at one-time a 1/5 shot to take the role, has drifted in the betting.

At the time of writing, interim boss O’Neil is considered an even money chance with bookmakers SkyBet to land the full-time position, while Middlesbrough manager Wilder is a 7/4 shot.

A report from the Daily Mail on Monday claimed Wilder was “a leading candidate” for the position, but the Daily Echo understands he is not on Cherries’ list of potential candidates.

O’Neil is unbeaten in three games as interim head coach, drawing fixtures with Wolves and Newcastle either side of a dramatic 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest.

He stepped in to take the role on a temporary basis following the sacking of Scott Parker.

Earlier this month, O'Neil admitted taking the Cherries job on a full-time basis would be a "consideration" should the board come to him with the proposal.
