JAKE Andrews’ attitude towards his loan spell at Poole Town has earnt him an admirer in Dolphins boss Tom Killick, who credited the midfielder for having ‘really bought into what we’re trying to do’.

Former Bristol City youngster Andrews joined the Dolphins at the start of September, with his gametime at the BlackGold Stadium limited by a three-week break in fixtures due to rearrangements and postponements.

He notched his first goal for Dolphins last Saturday, blasting home a free-kick in the 5-0 win over Yate.

Andrews, who only joined parent club Havant & Waterlooville permanently this summer, signed on an initial one-month loan from the National South side.

As such, there is the possibility that Saturday’s trip to Beaconsfield could mark his last appearance in a Poole shirt.

He finished the 2021-22 campaign on loan with the Hawks after falling out of the first team picture at Torquay United, where he played over 100 times in the fifth and sixth tier with the Gulls.

When asked if he would like to retain the services of Andrews longer term, Killick told the Daily Echo: “I think so. I've been impressed with Jake.

“He's trying to get match fit and a bit fitter, and (Saturday) was another step towards that.

“But again, he's really bought into what we're trying to do.

“What I always worry about is if you bring someone in on loan and they're slightly aloof to the whole thing. It's not their be all and end all, necessarily being at this club.

“But it's almost they've got to play as if it is. And Jake has, in terms of trying to integrate himself with the players and what he's trying to do on the pitch.

“I think he's someone that is giving his all.

“So I'd always be open with the ability he's got to see what we can do. But obviously, the final decision would end up resting with the club (Havant & Waterlooville) and him.”
