BOOKMAKERS have now slashed their prices on Gary O’Neil being Cherries’ next permanent manager.

Odds compilers SkyBet had for a long time listed the former Portsmouth and West Ham midfielder as second favourite behind Sean Dyche in the running to be the Dorset club’s next boss on a full-time basis.

But with the same bookmaker, at the time of writing, O’Neil is now a red-hot 1/7 to be named Cherries’ next permanent boss.

O’Neil is unbeaten in three games as interim head coach, drawing fixtures with Wolves and Newcastle either side of a dramatic 3-2 victory over Bristol City.

He stepped in to take the role on a temporary basis following the sacking of Scott Parker.

Earlier this month, O'Neil admitted taking the Cherries job on a full-time basis would be a "consideration" should the board come to him with the proposal.

A report from The Sun published on Saturday evening claimed O’Neil would be given “extra time” as boss under potential new owner Bill Foley, who is reportedly in talks to buy the Dorset outfit.

The Sun claim the new owner is “likely to review the squad and manager situation in January”.
