TRIALISTS Matt Halliday and Adam Smith will both be given a second chance to shine when Cherries host Pontin's Holidays Combination rivals Plymouth Argyle today.

The defensive duo have been invited back after turning in impressive displays during Cherries' unexpected 1-0 win over Wales and West Division big guns Bristol City a fortnight ago.

Halliday, 21, a central defender who has been on Norwich's books, and 22-year-old left-back Smith, formerly of Peterborough, are due to line up against Argyle at Dean Court (2pm).

Cherries reserve team boss Eddie Howe said: "They both did very well in a good team performance at Bristol City so we thought it would only be right to bring them back. Hopefully we can see the other side of their games in what we hope will be a more even contest."

Defender Ryan Garry could be set to take a significant step on the comeback trail after being pencilled in to face the Pilgrims.

A late decision will be taken on Garry who has been sidelined for six months after sustaining a broken right leg just seven games into his Cherries career.
