POOLE Town were punished by Salisbury for the second time in a week, as they slipped to a 2-0 home reverse and dumped out of the FA Cup at the first qualifying round stage.
Tom Killick’s side were beaten 2-1 by Steve Claridge’s Whites in league action on Monday and they were powerless to prevent another reverse at Black Gold Stadium.
Salisbury’s opener came on 18 minutes. After a foul out wide, ex-Dolphin Charlie Davis’s free-kick found centre-half Sam Roberts in the box.
He was allowed time to prod the ball home from close range and give the visitors the upper hand.
Dolphins looked for a response however, with former Wimborne keeper Gerard Benfield producing some fine saves to keep the Whites ahead.
But Salisbury then added a second in the simplest manner.
A long goal-kick from Benfield was allowed to bounce, with Sam Ashton lobbing the ball over Luke Cairney in the home goal to ensure the visitors’ progress.
