PROLIFIC Scott Joyce could make it 100 goals in two seasons for Wimborne Town if he maintains his current scoring exploits.

Joyce, who fired in 47 strikes in all competitions last term, is currently bagging a goal a game for Magpies in the Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division. And with 41 finishes to his name in all competitions this season, (33 in 33 league outings), Joyce could move closer to a landmark figure by continuing his fine run of form in tonight's League Cup semi-final first leg at Horndean (7.45pm).

The former Poppies hitman told the Daily Echo: "I've got six more to get to go past last season's tally and when I got to 39 I really started looking at it.

"It's been a bit tougher this season as I've started from the bench a few times and we've got some really good players pushing for places."

Joyce's nearest team-mate is former Lymington and New Milton frontman James Stokoe with 17 league goals in 28 Wessex Premier appearances and Joyce was quick to praise the impact of both Stokoe and fellow striker Steve Whitcher.

"Stokoe has done well since he came here and Stevie Whitcher has done really well as he's been on the bench for most of this season but still scored 16 goals.

"The three of us have been quite important this year, but I've been getting more chances than in previous seasons.

"The players that Christer (Warren) has brought in are great footballers and there's plenty of service coming in and that's made the difference."

Warren are without Stokoe (ankle) for tonight's tie, but Mark Jones, who suffered a dead leg in Magpies' 4-1 Premier Division win at Bemerton Heath Harlequins on Saturday, could make a quick comeback.

Tom Vavrecka returns to the squad after recovering from a back injury.

Skipper Paul Roast (hip) is a long-term doubt after coming off after just 20 minutes of Saturday's clash.

Previewing the tie, player-boss Warren said: "It's a horrible place to go, but if we can match their desire and hunger, we should be okay.

"They put it about and they're a big side and we need to make sure we get a goal at their place before the second leg."
