WIMBORNE Town's seventh league win on the spin came at a cost, as Christer Warren's team suffered an untimely double injury setback.

Goals from the prolific Scott Joyce, Tom McCormick, Scott Arnold and Steve Whitcher secured a comfortable 4-1 win at Bemerton to maintain Magpies' impressive Sydenhams Wessex Premier Division form.

But, despite taking their scoring spree to 31 goals in a magnificent seven league outings, Wimborne left the field on a low note as they allowed the hosts to pull a goal back and lost two key men to injury - Paul Roast and Mark Jones.

"Paul Roast has a hip problem," explained player-boss Warren.

"He's had it for a couple of months and he's been getting through but it got to a point where he needed complete rest.

"He trained on Thursday and was okay but he felt it straight away on Saturday and that's probably put him back two or three weeks.

"Mark Jones took a whack on his thigh and he had to go off. And that's at a time when we don't want any more injuries.

"We've got a big game on Tuesday and need everyone fit."

Warren described Saturday's win as a "strange" game.

He said: "It was 4-1 but could easily have been 8-4. It was a really open game and they have got some good attacking options, but they concede a lot of goals.

"We had four different goalscorers again and it would've been nice to get a few more, but I can't complain because 4-1 is a good result."

The Wimborne boss believes two defeats could spell the end of his side's title challenge.

"I think two losses and the title is gone," he told the Daily Echo.

"It's a case of winning your games and hopefully someone will slip up.

"We look comfortable and it's very important we don't lose. You can't really rely on other teams at this time of the season."

While not bringing anyone in before the transfer deadline, Warren did hand a first-team debut to midfielder Danny Woods, who has been at the club for about two months.

"He hasn't played for over a year but he will do a good job for us," said Warren.

"That was his first game in the first-team, he kept it simple and did okay. He's a hard-hitting midfielder and it's nice to have someone like him.

"He was at Eastleigh when I was there and he went to Poole Town last season I think for a couple of games.

"He stopped playing but because I'm close friends with him he wanted to get back into it again with us. It's good to have him on board."
