DOLPHINS boss Tom Killick admitted a sense of déjà vu after his Poole side failed to make their dominance count against Salisbury.

After a controlling first half that saw Poole on top throughout, Dolphins finally took the lead on the hour mark via Toby Holmes.

However, they were quickly pegged back by their Wiltshire rivals, who struck back via Devon Arnold and sub Seokjae Lee to snatch a 2-1 win, and three points in the process.

Defeat at the BlackGold Stadium marks the first time since the 2018-19 season Dolphins have failed to win any of their first three home games, with the run of three home defeats also occurring for the first time since the year Poole were relegated from the National South in 2017-18.

Speaking after the game, Killick told the Daily Echo: “Stats are not everything, but we've had 14 shots and they've had five.

“Entries into the box, I can't remember the numbers now, which was ridiculous for us and not very many for them, but they've won the game and that's all that matters, as they say, so we have to take it on the chin.

“But it's very difficult when particularly the first half, it was just so dominant but as everyone would say, watching that first half, it would always be a concern because we've all seen that sort of scenario play itself out countless times, where the team that dominates doesn't take chances and then ends up losing the game.

“And that's what's happened. I mean, to be fair to them, second half I thought was much more even.

"First half was just one way, wave after wave of attacks really.

“Possession was just overwhelmingly in our favor, but second half, to be fair, they were better and it was more even.

“Although I still feel we were the better side. None of it matters, does it?

“Other than the fact that we've lost another game, lost another home game.

“So we have to take, as I said earlier, we have to take that on the chin, really.”
