HAMWORTHY United’s Tim Sills is certainly up for the cup – with the Hammers boss keen for yet another run in a national tournament.

Sills’ side host ninth-tier Badshot Lea on Saturday in the preliminary round of the FA Cup, with confidence growing at the County Ground following four wins to start the new season.

Hammers cruised to a 4-0 win away at Bradford Town in the previous round, and last season, they caused a few upsets on route to the second qualifying round.

Hamworthy also tasted cup success in the FA Vase, reaching the semi-final stage in what was a memorable season on all fronts.

Memories are certainly on the agenda for Sills, who recalled reaching the first round proper of the famous competition whilst a teenage with Camberley Town.

The Krooners started their cup campaign in the preliminary round, winning five games to face Third Division Brentford in 1998.

Reflecting on his love for the competition, Sills told the Daily Echo: “The FA cup is the most magical tournament.

“There's always that hope. I played at Wessex level when I was growing up, and won five games, got to the FA Cup first round away at Brentford.

“Those dreams can happen and the FA Cup is the competition that creates those dreams. So for me, it's full focus.

“There's nothing taking our eye off it.

“We want to keep the momentum and the FA Cup is a great way not only for the club to get a bit more money, but also for the boys to make some more memories.”

Badshot Lea advanced past Hammers’ old Wessex Premier adversaries Brockenhurst in the previous round, with Sills well aware of their quality.

“We certainly won't underestimate Badshot Lea,” continued the former Torquay and Weymouth man.

“I know a bit about them we played them a couple of years ago in pre-season.

“I know they're a quality outfit as well, with very good management team and coaches. So they'll come here fully no pressure on them.

“All of a sudden there's a bit of pressure on us. In terms of against Totton, it was a bit of role reversal and it will be good for us.

“I think we need to be able to deal with the expectation as well as kind of playing with less pressure on ourselves.

“So it'll be another good test. But we're always confident.”
