MARK Travers insisted the arrival of Neto to provide competition for his position is "really exciting" for Cherries.

The one-time Brazil international arrived on a free transfer from Barcelona on Sunday.

The 33-year-old arrives to add depth in the goalkeeper position, with inexperienced Will Dennis the only other senior keeper on the books at the club.

Discussing Neto's arrival, Travers told the Daily Echo: "Obviously in the Premier League the competition is going to be ridiculously high.

"You see teams have three keepers that can play, like we can here as well with Will, who was on the bench (on Saturday). So incredible competition.

"I've just got to take it in my stride and do the best I can every day on the training pitch and try and keep going."

Asked if Neto's arrival can help push his own form on even more, like happened when Freddie Woodman arrived on loan from Newcastle in January, Travers added: "Last January Freddie came in and he was an unbelievable keeper.

"To work with him every day and learn from him as well was great.

"Neto, the experiences he’s had with the clubs he’s been at, it would be amazing to learn off and train with every day and witness that.

"So really exciting and we can all come together to get the results."
