PREMIERSHIP stars Chris Harris, Brady Kurtz and Adam Ellis are the latest riders to pledge their support for Pirates’ team manager Neil Middleditch at his testimonial at Wimborne Road on August 31.

Already with a glittering line-up that includes two former world champions, the trio will add plenty of class to a memorable night when two teams of top riders go head-to-head in honour of Middleditch, himself a legend of the shale.

All three have donned the Pirates colours in previous years with Harris, now with Peterborough and Berwick, earning himself a true hero’s status after propelling the Pirates into the play-off final in unforgettable style in a last-heat showdown during his stint in 2018.

Always terrific value for money, he ranks as one of the most popular visitors anywhere he goes.

Kurtz cut his teeth with the Pirates after moving into the top flight in 2016, quickly becoming a heat leader and capturing the number one race jacket by the end of 2017.

Now a classy performer with the Belle Vue Aces in Manchester in the Premiership, Kurtz still lives locally at Middleditch’s home.

Ellis too was a popular and successful Pirate appearing for Poole in 2016. He was due to return to the ranks in 2020 until COVID and lockdown forced the speedway season to be cancelled.

Adam remains the current British Champion from 2021 and is a regular with the Sheffield Tigers.

Middleditch said: “Bomber (Harris) has been a thorn in my side for years! But he helped us to an historic league win.

“His race against Doyley in the semi is stuff of legends and his dedication and commitment to Team GB is second to none.

“Brady is another obvious choice, having lived with me for years. I’m sure it would be a bit frosty at breakfast if I left him out! He’s matured into a top heat leader for Belle Vue and with his commitments in Poland and Sweden, could go on to really great things.

“As far as Adam is concerned, well, the tassels (at the British final) clinched it for me! He is another rider who continues to improve. I have worked with him on a number of occasions. He’s putting in loads of track time here and abroad to improve himself and I’m very happy to have him on board for my special night.”
