WELL done England’s women’s football team.
Brilliant match – brilliant result. Wonderful to see so much happiness. All the more so in some of our darkest worrying years on so many fronts.
Many of us in older generations will recall 56 years ago we won the World Cup at Wembley.
And who were we playing? West Germany.
It went into the second half of extra time England winning 4-2.
It brought the country to a standstill. Huge national uplift in 1966.
And same again now. The best tonic in the world.
And on that high all we have to do now is work to stop the war in Ukraine and apply ourselves seriously to climate change, younger generations having a future and world to have their time, fulfil their dreams.
Very well done all the England team – as led by their brilliant manager Sarina Wiegman.
A joy to watch and share for so many millions, and of course huge inspiration for women’s football.
Just what our country needs.
Roars no doubt echoing around our country for years to come.
