NOTTINGHAM Forest and Cherries are “chalk and cheese” when it comes to spending power this summer according to Scott Parker.

Cherries have brought in midfielder Joe Rothwell and defender Ryan Fredericks on free transfers since promotion from the second tier, whilst Steve Cooper’s Tricky Trees have been the division’s busiest side, adding 10 new faces.

Three sides are yet to pay another club for a signing, with the addition of James Tarkowski on a free transfer Everton’s only move of the window to date.

Leicester City are the only other side in the division not to spend a transfer fee so far this window, due to the fact they are yet to make a signing.

In comparison, Forest have spent around £73 million according to website transfermarkt.co.uk.

Outside of the top six, only Leeds United have spent more, however, according to transfermarkt, the Whites currently have received more money than they have spent, thanks to the departures of stars Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha.

When asked about Forest’s transfer business, Parker insisted: “It’s just the polar opposite to where we are, really.

“It’s a club that have obviously got promoted and invested a huge amount of money, in terms of strengthening, in terms of going up to the next level, which is the Premier League.

“They’ve tried to do that with signing players, they’ve felt the need to do that.

“We’re not in that market. Us as a football club are not in a position to be able to do that, really. Them and us, it’s chalk and cheese.”

Despite adding 10 new players, Forest have only seen the departure of one first-team player for a fee, with fan favourite goalkeeper Brice Samba returning to Ligue Un with Lens.

In total, Forest have seen 11 players depart permanently from last season’s squad, whilst in comparison, Cherries have lost eight players due to expiring contracts and loans.
