CHERRIES’ young guns comfortably dispatched senior opposition in the form of Poole Town Thursday evening, with Shaun Cooper’s charges recording a 3-1 win at the BlackGold Stadium.

All four of the goals came from players that had the distinction of playing for both teams, with former loanees Jake Scrimshaw and Marcus Daws marking their return to Poole with a win, whilst Wes Fogden grabbed what proved to be a consolation for Dolphins.

Dolphins named a starting XI containing seven former Cherries of varying associations with the Premier League club, ranging from one-time under-16s goalkeeper Tyler Roberts-Disson to former Vitality Stadium favourite Fogden.

Cooper, who himself ended his career at Poole Town, gave starts to three players that had previously spent time on loan with the Dolphins, with striker Scrimshaw leading the line, whilst duo Noa Boutin and Daws started on the left, as left-back and left-winger respectively.

It was Scrimshaw who would start the scoring early on, drifting past his former teammates to nod home from a Tarik Gidaree cross just six minutes in.

Despite their guests’ quick start, Poole were undeterred, quickly restoring parity just three minutes later.

Fogden popped up unmarked at a corner to place a header past Billy Terrell, giving the game its second goal just nine minutes in.

Luke Holmes was then deemed to have caught Noa Boutin just outside the box, paving the way for Cherries’ second.

Northern Ireland youth international Daws caught ‘keeper Roberts-Disson out with a cheeky free-kick from a tight angle, restoring the away side’s lead.

All of the goalscoring action was confined to the opening 45 minutes, with Scrimshaw finding the net for a second time.

Will Spetch protested after he thought he had been barged over from behind by the Cherries striker, allowing Scrimshaw to place the ball home under no pressure.

In the second-half both sides made sweeping changes with rolling subs, meaning that the final 45 passed by with little event.

Despite the subdued second period Cherries remained on top, coming closest late on via Daws, who smacked the crossbar with a close range effort.
