RUMOURED Cherries target Japhet Tanganga is fully focused on his Tottenham Hotspur career amidst reports he is set to depart the North London club.

The Athletic reported late last week that the 23-year-old was the subject of a loan approach from Cherries, but the latest news from the Tottenham Hotspur stadium suggests that Tanganga himself has rebuffed any approach from the Dorset outfit.

An England under-21 international, Tanganga has also drawn attention from the continent, with AC Milan and Napoli also linked to the Hackney-born talent.

However, in an interview with football.london, Tanganga seemed to indicate that he was not interested in departing Spurs, despite the arrival of competition at centre-back in the form of Clement Lenglet from Barcelona.

Speaking whilst out on tour with Spurs in South Korea, Tanganga stated: "It's just speculation and I don't read too much into speculation.

“My focus is I'm just happy to be back, being injury free and helping the team as much as I can and be ready when I'm called upon.

"It's about being ready. There was a period when Cristian Romero was injured and the manager called upon me to play in that position.

“I'm just grateful to play as many games as possible and I'm just happy to play whenever the manager wants me to."

With Tanganga seemingly not interested in a switch to the Vitality Stadium, Cherries have reportedly swapped targets, with the club now linked with Manchester United’s centre-back, Axel Tuanzebe by Italian publication calciomercato.com.

Tuanzebe has departed Manchester United’s pre-season tour of Bangkok, citing personal reasons.
