PROMOTER Danny Ford backed Zach Cook to bounce back from a wretched pair of away meetings for Pirates over the weekend.

The Aussie racer drew a blank in Friday’s 49-41 defeat against Edinburgh, before recording two paid three from three rides in a 45-45 draw against Berwick the next night.

Asked about the difficult weekend for Cook, Ford told the Daily Echo: “His form kind of epitomised what our season is going through at the minute.

“He has again been one of the most consistent riders, constantly banging in sixes and sevens and getting good results away from home as well.

“That was a bit of a surprise (Cook’s low scores) but it wasn’t a massive shock. They were two tracks he’s only seen once before.

“Zach is a class act. I know he will bounce back and hopefully he will do that on Wednesday when we are up against some stiff opposition.”

Pirates face Glasgow in the SGB Championship at Wimborne Road on Wednesday.
