POOLE Town will take on a Cherries XI this pre-season, the Southern League club have announced.

Shaun Cooper will bring a side over to Cherries’ non-league neighbours that boast numerous former Cherries in their ranks, such as fan favourite Wes Fogden, Dolphins stalwart and one-time Cherry Jamie Whisken, and Josh Carmichael, who impressed as a 17-year-old at the Vitality Stadium.

The fixture will take place on Thursday, July 14, with kick-off at 7.45pm, meaning that Scott Parker’s first-teamers will not take part, as they will be in Portugal for their pre-season preparations.

In recent years numerous Cherries youngsters have enjoyed loan spells at the BlackGold Stadium, including Sam Surridge, Jake Scrimshaw, and current Dolphin Luke Pardoe.

Last season four young Cherries had spells at Tatnam, including the club’s Premier League scholar of the year, Noa Boutin.

Northern Ireland under-18 international Marcus Daws and defenders Brooklyn Genesini and Jack Seddon also spent time with Poole last campaign.
