DAVID Brooks revealed he was getting “back to normality” after being given the all-clear from cancer but admitted it was “surreal” how quickly things have changed.
Cherries playmaker Brooks was diagnosed with stage two Hodgkin lymphoma in October.
But the 24-year-old announced last month that he had completed his treatment and was now cancer free.
It is not yet known when Brooks will resume playing, but the Warrington-born star was present for Wales’s World Cup play-off with Ukraine on Sunday.
Speaking pitchside to Sky Sports, the Cherries star said: “I feel all right. Day-to-day-wise it’s getting back to normality, I think.
“It’s quite a surreal feeling to get the all-clear and stuff like that.
“But it’s quite weird to think only six, eight weeks ago I was on treatment cycles and stuff like that – how quickly it can turn around.
“I’m feeling good.”
Asked what it was like to have a watching brief during crucial games for club and country, Brooks said: “It’s miles worse watching than it is playing, I think. When you get on the pitch and you are just playing football, it’s quite natural.
“When you are in the stands watching and you can’t really affect the game or anything like that. I know it’s tough.”
