WIMBORNE Town have announced that Curtis Young’s involvement with the club has come to an end after four seasons.

The Poole-born winger joined the Magpies ahead of the 2018-19 season, joining from AFC Totton.

Young had started his career in the youth system at Cherries, spending a decade at the club before leaving in 2017.

He then spent a season with AFC Totton, before joining then Southern Premier League Wimborne, stepping up a division whilst simultaneously moving closer to home.

Over the past four years Young racked up over 125 appearances for the Magpies, scoring a total of 29 goals.

Last season the 23-year-old contributed six goals and six assists in 31 appearances.

A statement on Wimborne’s website read: “The club can confirm that this week Curtis Young has left the club. The club would like to thank Curtis for his efforts and commitment over the last four seasons.”

Young’s departure means he is the second notable player to leave the New Cuthbury in the close season, with Gerard Benfield departing Wimborne for a second time to join Salisbury.

The absence of Young next season will be off-set by the quality and quantity of Wimborne’s early summer business.

With pre-season still a month away from beginning, the Magpies have confirmed the signatures of 13 players for next season.
