BOURNEMOUTH Poppies have confirmed that captain Tyrone Carkeet will remain at Victoria Park for the 2022-23 campaign.

Adept as either a full-back or midfielder, Carkeet had missed five months of last campaign due to injury.

Despite the lengthy lay-off, Carkeet made 29 appearances in all competitions, scoring seven times for Poppies, helping the Winton-based outfit beat the drop and finish 18th.

Carkeet had previously spent time with Poppies during the 2018-19 campaign, making 18 appearances, before departing for Lymington during the curtailed campaigns of 2019-20 and 2020-21.

The flame-haired midfielder had also previously played for Verwood Town and New Milton, alongside a spell with Bashley back in 2016.

After a brief spell with Lymington Town during the two curtailed seasons, Carkeet returned to Poppies ahead of the 2021-22 season.

Poppies boss Phill Brown stated on social media: "Buzzing to get this man signed for next season, as he turned down a number of clubs.

"He returns to Poppies after missing five months of last season.

"He will be like a new signing for us."

As the club make their first moves player-wise, Poppies are currently looking for further additions to their coaching staff.

The club are currently looking for a first team coach and a goalkeeping coach in a bid to boost their preparations ahead of the new campaign.
