PIRATES reserve Nathan Ablitt produced a 15-point maximum on his home debut for Belle Vue Colts in the National Development League.

Ablitt, who contributed an important 2+1 from his three rides for Poole in the Championship win at Birmingham in midweek, showed his class in the lower tier as Belle Vue stormed to a 69-21 thumping of the Armadale Devils.

Ablitt was one of three riders to achieve full pay from the evening, with Jack Smith (18) and Harry McGurk (14+4) also unbeaten by an opponent.

Discussing his performance, Ablitt said: “It couldn’t have really gone any better than that for my home debut, so obviously buzzing with that.

"But I've got to keep my feet on the ground and keep working away.

"Coming into the meeting, I feel like I've been in good form. I've been riding well and I wanted a big score.

"Obviously you can't come into a meeting a 15-point max, but here we are!"

Ablitt, 18, is due in Championship action for Pirates against Edinburgh Monarchs at Wimborne Road on Wednesday (7.30pm).
