PROMOTER Danny Ford explained his decision to call off Poole’s home meeting against Berwick on the forecast and insisted: “We want everyone to have the best experience possible.”

The Dorset club were tonight set to continue their SGB Championship campaign against the Bandits, only for that to be postponed by the weather.

A warning for thunderstorms in the area has been issued by the Met Office for later this evening.

Speaking about the postponement, Ford told the Daily Echo: “Nobody wanted to get down here with the rain due at probably the worst time. Between 8pm and 9pm makes it impossible.

“People want to come down and be entertained. We don’t want to limp through a meeting or rush through it. We want everyone to have the best experience possible.

“With that in mind, it’s a tough decision but I think it’s the right one.

“I made the decision early, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. It’s a toss of a coin. If the rain doesn’t come in, we end up with egg on our face.

“But hopefully people understand, we want to give them as much notice as possible because people will be travelling.”

Pirates are next in action against Glasgow at Ashfield on Friday (7.30pm).
