POOLE Town boss Tom Killick has detailed his plans for the recruitment in the summer, revealing that Dolphins will look to add “two or three” to their squad.

It was a disappointing season for Poole as pre-season ambitions of a play-off finish gave way for a finish in mid-table mediocrity, an unusual feeling for a club that under Killick has constantly competed at the top-end of the league.

Despite the lacklustre campaign, Killick believes adding to his squad will help – but admitted that other aspects, such as tactics, discipline, and fitness levels also needed improving for Poole to succeed.

Speaking to the Daily Echo, Killick stated: “I think there won't be wholesale additions, and there won't be wholesale departures.

“From a financial perspective, even if we wanted to have a big level of recruitment, in terms of incomings, we couldn’t.

“We just need to get to a point where the squad as a whole is stronger. So we have got two or three missing, which, let's face it, you have to say that's probably the norm, as a minimum.

“We’ve got to be able to cover it, got to have proper players come in and do what's needed.

“We've got to be able to take people out of the team when they're not playing well, knowing that someone of a good level can come in.

“So we just probably need two or three, lapped in certain positions.

“I don't think it's a massive thing, but it's significant because recruiting the players – it’s easy to bring someone in that can sit on the bench, but you've got to try and bring people in that are actually going to take us up to the level where I want to be.

“That's quite a difficult thing to do, but that's what we've got to focus on and that's what we're already focusing on.”

Whilst Poole are close to completing their first signing of the summer, Killick believes that there are other factors that needed improving.

“Hopefully we'll be successful in getting two or three in, keeping the vast majority and then trying to make other improvements in other areas,” continued Killick.

“Can we be a bit fitter? Can we be a bit better organized? Can we have our set pieces better? Can we just be tactically a little bit better? Can our discipline be better?

“There's lots of things that you have to look at.

“It's not just recruitment. I always think that's a huge, huge, huge part of it.

“I'm not also then neglecting other things. I can't pretend that there hasn't been other shortcomings.

“Some of those, probably most of them, my responsibility.

“So I think I've got to face up to all of it and then look to see if we can be a bit better all round.”
