TOP Goalscorer Dominic Solanke does not care what song the Cherries faithful sing when he scores – as long as they keep on screaming his name!

The former Chelsea youngster grabbed his 26th and 27th goals of the campaign away at Coventry, helping his side to a 3-0 win at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

Across England’s top four divisions, only Fulham’s Aleksandr Mitrovic has bettered Solanke’s league tally of 26, with the Serbian bagging 38 goals in an unprecedented season.

After arriving at Cherries from Liverpool in January 2019, Solanke inadvertently brought a chant with him, with fans at the Vitality Stadium using the same song Liverpool supporters originally coined for him.

Since finding his shooting boots on the south coast, fans have created another chant, referencing his Merseyside past and new home of Cherries.

Alongside his iconic bow and arrow celebration, the chant has become a frequent feature of Cherries games this season.

When asked by the Daily Echo if he had a favourite out of the two, Solanke replied: “Not really! They’re both nice.

"Obviously one’s about me scoring, so that’s the one I often hear after I score, which is nice. Whenever the crowd is screaming your name is always nice.”

Cherries put on a clinical shooting performance away at Coventry, with the Dorset club scoring their goals from their first three shots.

In comparison, Coventry enjoyed 57 per cent possession and double the amount of efforts Cherries attempted.

With his side under the cosh, Solanke praised the 2,342 travelling supporters for spurring the team over the line.

“They were fantastic today, there was a lot of numbers up there and that really helped us.

“Games like this, at this stage of the season, we definitely need all the help we can get. We’re thankful for that.”

Up next for Solanke and co. is a match-up with league leaders Fulham at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday.

Fulham could potentially be promoted by the time they visit the south coast, with the Cottagers able to secure a top-two finish with victory over Preston this evening.
