PHILIP Billing has been recalled to the Danish national football team for the first time since September.

The 25-year-old was last selected for the fixtures against Scotland, the Faroe Islands and Israel back in September.

Billing has only made one appearance for his country of birth, making his debut back in 2020 against the Faroe Islands.

As that fixture was a friendly, Billing remains eligible to switch his allegiances to Nigeria, but the former Huddersfield Town midfielder has repeatedly turned down the chance to represent the Super Eagles.

Billing will link-up with his national side to take on the Netherlands and Serbia in friendlies, meaning even if he does take to the field, he will still technically be eligible to play for Nigeria.

With Denmark’s qualification for the World Cup in November already confirmed, the friendlies represent an opportunity for Billing to stake a claim in the Danes’ squad for the tournament in Qatar.

The other notable recall is for Brentford's Christian Eriksen. Eriksen has only recently returned to football after suffering a cardiac arrest at the Euros.
