LOAN star Todd Cantwell believes that he has a lot more to show Cherries fans – with the dynamic midfielder looking to build on the “snippets” has shown so far.

Brought in from Norwich City on deadline day, the 24-year-old has quickly earned admirers from the Cherries faithful thanks to his skill and ability, but the England under-21 international believes he is yet to truly show the full extent of his potential.

A two-time winner of the Championship with the Canaries, Cantwell also impressed for the Norfolk side in the Premier League, indicating the ability he possess.

Apart from a spell in the Netherlands with Fortuna Sittard, Cantwell has only ever played senior football with Norwich, after coming through their academy.

Arriving at a new club and playing in a new position, Cantwell admitted that he was still getting to grips with all the changes.

The midfielder said: It’s been enjoyable. I mentioned earlier, it’s an adaption.

“One, it’s not a team I’ve ever played in before, and two, it’s not a position I’ve really ever played in before.

“The third point is, the players that I’m with, they don’t necessarily know my movements, and I don’t necessarily know theirs. I was saying, I think know that I’m five or six games in, now that block has kinda gone.

“I now feel like I’m becoming a lot more comfortable with my teammates, my surroundings, in the sense of knowing where to be, where they want me, where I want them.

“I think now is the part where hopefully we start to see the best side of me.

“I know I’ve shown snippets so far, but I’ve definitely got a lot more to come and I’m starting to feel a lot more comfortable with my surroundings, and with my match fitness as well.”

Whilst Cantwell remains focused on trying to help Cherries back to the Premier League, there is the constant question marks over his long-term future.

The south coast club have the option to secure Cantwell’s signature on a permanent basis in the summer, but the 24-year-old is largely focused on the promotion push.

“There’s definitely worse places to sign, I am really enjoying myself.

“The target is clear, we obviously desperately want promotion, and I think if we continue to play, and continue to have the support we’ve had – I felt like the support we had on Saturday was paramount to our victory, we felt like we had 12 players out there.

“I can’t stress how important it is to have the home fans and a home match, making it feel like you’ve got 12 players, because that can be the difference between smothering another team, finishing another team, and ultimately getting the important three points.”
