WIMBORNE Town have pulled off somewhat of a coup with the loan capture of Southend stalwart John White.

35-year-old White joins the Magpies after over 400 appearances in the Football League for Southend and Essex rivals Colchester.

White, who is Southend's longest-serving player, joining the club in 2013, was named captain at the start of the season by then-boss Phil Brown.

However, since the arrival of Kevin Maher as manager at Roots Hall, White has slowly been phased out of the National League outfit.

Speaking about the move for White, Wimborne boss James Stokoe said: "I’m really pleased to bring someone of John’s experience in on loan, he’s a great professional and will help our young squad out.

"We thank Southend for their support in getting the deal done and look forward to seeing him involved on Saturday."

With the Magpies stranded at the bottom of the Southern League Premier South, it appears the club has one eye on next season after tying down another promising youngster to the club.

In recent weeks Wimborne had extended the say of winger Ben Scorey, with fellow attacker Harry Morgan also given a new deal.

"I’m really pleased Harry has agreed to sign," continued Stokoe.

"He’s been absolutely fantastic, proving he’s one of the best number 10s in the league, guaranteeing us goals, assists and commitment every week.

"We can all look forward to seeing him a Wimborne shirt for another season.”
