SCOTT Parker says he is yet to decide whether to appeal against his FA charge, following his red card against Preston North End.

Cherries' boss was given his marching orders by referee Matt Donohue shortly after Emil Riis struck the winning goal against his side at Deepdale on Saturday.

Parker was frustrated when Cherries were not awarded a free-kick for a challenge on Philip Billing in the build-up to Riis's goal.

The FA charge reads: "Scott Parker has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E3 following AFC Bournemouth's EFL Championship game against Preston North End FC on Saturday 5 March 2022.

"It is alleged that the manager's language was abusive, and/or insulting, and/or improper during the 90th minute of the game, and he has until Monday 14 March 2022 to respond."

Asked if he plans to appeal the charge, boss Parker said in today's press conference: "I'm not sure yet. I literally got told this afternoon when I came in from the training ground and then I've literally come over to sit here and speak to you guys.

"I think we have until Monday to decide whether we're going to appeal. I'm going to sit down and have a chat with everyone and just see what we feel the best thing to do is."

Parker, who says he has not been charged or suspended since moving into moving into management, insists the actions at Deepdale are not in character for him.

"No, no, it definitely isn’t that. I think that’s fair to say," commented Parker.

"I pride myself on just controlling my emotions at certain times and being able to control my emotions and I think it's fair to say that I didn't do that too well at the weekend.

"Since then I think everyone seems to have admitted that (refereeing) decision shouldn't have taken place and that bad decision has then corresponded in one of my players missing the next three games. Me obviously reacting, them scoring a goal that shouldn't have been.

"We are at the height of things and you work tirelessly all week and can accept certain mistakes but I just felt that was a real basic error in that game and at that moment.

"Before you know it, all the work we've done all week and worked as hard as we have, we come away with nothing.

"But I didn't think it was a sending off. Maybe I was animated, I didn't think at the time I used any real personal insults, but again, maybe. We'll see."

He added: "I know obviously I was animated at that moment.

"I don't know the full reasons and that's why I need to go back this afternoon to find out exactly what are the reasons that I have been charged. Until I actually see the reasons why I've been charged and really I don't know whether we'll appeal or not."

Asked if he was surprised by his own emotions, Parker said: "No, not really. Not at that moment.

"I know how you maybe want to steer that, but emotion and passion, it is part and parcel of what I am and who I am.

"While of course a lot of time you can control that, there are certain moments you can’t. Just like my players as well, sometimes that is not the case. And that's fine."
