SIRIKI Dembele is settling in nicely at Cherries – with the former Grimsby and Peterborough winger thankful for the warm welcome he has received since arriving on deadline day.

Well-travelled Dembele was born in the Ivory Coast but raised in both London and Scotland, before moving back to England in a bid to kickstart his professional career at the Nike Academy.

After a season at Grimsby Town in League Two, Peterborough swooped to bring him to Cambridgeshire, with Dembele making 129 appearances for Posh.

Despite game-time being limited by postponements and the fact he was cup-tied for Cherries’ upset at the hands of Boreham Wood, Dembele has impressed in his two appearances.

A bright debut off the bench against Birmingham was followed by a first start away at Blackpool, a match that saw Dembele grab a 95th minute matchwinner.

The former Dundee United youngster revealed that he was living on his own since moving to Dorset, going on to add how he was quickly making friends at the club.

Dembele told the Daily Echo: “My family are in Scotland now. In Bournemouth I’m just on my own, I don’t know anyone.

“But everyone is very nice actually, so it’s been easier to actually get along with everyone, because they’re nice people.

“They've been great, people around the club. Everyone's nice, so it's been amazing so far.”

The 25-year-old then went on to compare his new adopted town to his previous home of Peterborough, joking: “It’s okay, it seems nice.

“It’s a nicer area than Peterborough, so that’s nice!

“It's been great. Like I said, people in Bournemouth just seem like really nice people, which is very important to me.”

The deadline day recruit then revealed that he wanted no part of any initiations, stating that he would not be singing at all.

“I can’t do initiation songs,” added the winger.

“I just get nervous and I can’t do it. So I won’t be doing that at all... at all!
