NOTTINGHAM Forest have lodged a complaint to the EFL regarding last week's postponed fixture against Cherries, according to a report by Sky Sports.

Forest were due to face Scott Parker's side at Vitality Stadium on Friday, February 18.

However, following structural damage caused to the ground by Storm Eunice, the game was postponed less than four hours before kick-off, with many Forest fans having already left to travel to the fixture.

Ahead of the match, which was due to be shown live on Sky Sports, Parker gave an update on his squad's availability during a press conference, revealing seven players were set to miss the fixture due to injury including Gary Cahill and Ryan Christie, as well as the suspended Jefferson Lerma.

A statement from Cherries on Friday afternoon explaining the decision to postpone the fixture read: "Friday’s SkyBet Championship match between AFC Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest has been postponed for safety reasons following damage to Vitality Stadium caused by Storm Eunice.

"Structural engineers have carried out an inspection of the stadium and have confirmed that the damage could pose a significant risk to supporters’ safety.

"The ongoing impact of the storm means the damage cannot be repaired in time either to fulfil the fixture on Friday, or at a re-arranged time on Saturday.

"The postponement was recommended by the club’s Safety Advisory Group, and ratified by the EFL.

"A new date for the fixture will be announced in due course. All purchased tickets will be valid for the rearranged fixture, but all supporters will be eligible for a refund if unable to attend the new date.

"The club apologises for the inconvenience caused by this announcement, but would like to reassure supporters it has been made with the safety of everyone due to attend the match in mind."

And Sky say Forest have now gone to the EFL with a formal complaint to express their dissatisfaction at the late decision to call the game off.

Their report claims Forest have suggested to the EFL that the postponement "suited" Cherries, due to the amount of players who were set to miss the game.

Forest officials are also reportedly "furious" that the game was not played at 2pm on Saturday afternoon, once the storm had passed.

Cherries have since seen a second fixture postponed, with their scheduled trip to Swansea City tonight called off due to damage to the Swansea.com Stadium, also caused by Storm Eunice.

Speaking after that decision was announced, Cherries chief executive Neill Blake said: “While it is disappointing that another one of our fixtures has had to be postponed following the effects of Storm Eunice, we completely understand Swansea’s decision and I would like to thank them for prioritising the safety of players, supporters and staff.

“Like us, Swansea have suffered too much damage to their stadium to make it safe for supporters in a short space of time – five days, as opposed to the 24 hours it has been suggested we could have made our stadium safe within.

“Swansea have come to a sensible decision and we have given them our full support so as to allow an early announcement on the postponement.

“We look forward to visiting them for the re-arranged fixture.”
