BOSS Scott Parker admitted his in-game changes do not always go as well as they did at Blackpool.

With Cherries trailing to a Josh Bowler strike heading into the final 10 minutes, Parker played a host of players out of position in a bid to try and forge a way back into the contest.

After Jack Stacey had been replaced by Jamal Lowe, Jaidon Anthony dropped in at right-back. Leif Davis was introduced in place of Jordan Zemura at left-back, while Lloyd Kelly was partnered at centre-back by midfielder Lewis Cook.

Nat Phillips was thrown forward as a makeshift striker, with he and Lowe supported by Dominic Solanke.

The bold changes paid off, as Lowe turned in an 86th-minute equaliser, before Siriki Dembele bagged his first goal for the club, five minutes into added time, to secure a 2-1 victory.

Asked what his thinking was behind moving Phillips to play at centre-forward, Parker explained: "We tried to change a few things. We changed it tactically at half-time, in terms of trying to get Dembele inside the pitch a little bit more, with Todd (Cantwell), with Phil (Billing), up and around Dom.

"I thought Dembele second half was everything why we brought him into the football club, in terms of driving at people and committing people, was a real threat.

"We got our width from our full-backs at that moment, Then of course, fans have criticised that I've done something wrong and I've done this wrong.

"This is part and parcel of how I stand today. We've made numerous changes during the second half and it's worked, but there's loads of times it doesn't and that's the way it is sometimes."

The win sees second-placed Cherries move five points clear of nearest challengers Blackburn Rovers, still six points behind leaders Fulham with 16 games to play.
