SCOTT Parker revealed his disappointment at the fact Jefferson Lerma will miss the next three matches, admitting that he was not surprised the FA rejected Cherries’ appeal.

The club and Parker felt that Lerma was harshly dismissed for a tackle on Birmingham’s Onel Hernandez, with Cherries appealing to the FA for the ban to be overturned.

Whilst the FA rejected said appeal, it did not add any extra games to the ban – unlike a previous charge in November, when two games were added to an initial one match ban for a ‘frivolous appeal’.

However, thanks to the fact it was Lerma’s second red card of the campaign, an automatic one game ban was added to the standard three match suspension a red card earned for ‘serious foul play’.

Speaking to the Daily Echo in regards to the unsuccessful appeal, Parker said: “Disappointing really. I suppose I didn’t expect anything else, really.

“I suppose it seems to be a common theme with Jefferson.

“We looked back at it, and didn’t feel that it was a sending off, but as always, it seems that’s the way it has gone.

“It is what it is, and we’re going to miss him.”

Lerma has served one match of his ban, missing the victory over Blackpool, and will now miss Cherries’ clashes with Nottingham Forest, Swansea, Stoke City and Preston.

It means Lerma will have missed 11 games due to suspension this season.
