GOALSCORER Dominic Solanke admitted the shock FA Cup loss to Boreham Wood did make tonight’s clash with Birmingham City more important, adding: “The full focus is now on the league.”

Cherries put Sunday’s disappointment behind them with a 3-1 win over the Championship strugglers, and posting a second consecutive league win after two defeats in January.

Dominic Solanke’s neat finish was sandwiched by goals from Ryan Christie and Jaidon Anthony after 15 minutes and 15 minutes before the final whistle respectively.

The result lifts Cherries back into second-place and into the automatic promotion places, with the goal very much to remain there for the rest of the campaign.

Speaking at full-time, Solanke told the Daily Echo: “Yeah it was a big win, we haven’t had the best run recently so it was really important today to get that win.

“There’s a lot of games coming up now so hopefully we can build some momentum.”

Asked if the weekend’s woes made tonight even more important to the Cherries squad, he added: “Yeah it did, no one wants to lose a game like we did on the weekend.

“I think the full focus now is on the league and as I said there is a lot of games coming so we need to focus on that.”

After promotion rivals Blackburn Rovers lost 2-0 at home to Nottingham Forest, Cherries now sit two points clear of them in third with a further two games in hand.

Up next for Cherries is a trip to Blackpool in the Championship, on Saturday, February 12.
