SCOTT Parker insists there is no added pressure on himself to guide Cherries back into the Premier League, despite a spree of signings on deadline day.

This week saw Cherries' board back Parker by getting deals done for five new faces to add to his squad.

Three arrived from the Premier League in loanees Todd Cantwell, Nat Phillips and Freddie Woodman, while attacking duo Kieffer Moore and Siriki Dembele were signed on permanent deals.

They follow the additions of James Hill and Ethan Laird earlier in the transfer window.

Asked if the newly-bolstered squad puts more pressure on him to ensure Cherries return to the top flight, currently sitting third in the Championship table, boss Parker said: "Everyone was saying that (Cherries should get promoted) at the start of the season.

"There isn’t any added pressure on me. There’s added pressure because the narrative is five players have walked in on deadline day and it’s big players.

"That pressure was no different when I had a substitutes bench in the first game of seven subs that had the combination of three appearances between them and we went 14 games unbeaten and everyone looked past what exactly the boys were doing and what an incredible job they were doing.

"We were expected to get promoted. I was expected to get promoted when I walked in here. And I’m still expected to get promoted now. That’s just part and parcel of it.

"I wouldn’t want it any way different. What I do have now and what we do have now is some added level of quality that can help this team, because at this present moment in time, we need a little bit of help.

"We now have the depth in place in certain positions that can help us do that really. The pressure is the pressure. It is part and parcel of sitting in the chair which I sit in. It’s part and parcel of a team that wants to get promoted."

Reflecting on a manic deadline day, in which Cherries made an unprecedented five signings within 24 hours, Parker added: "It wasn’t really frantic in the sense of there was nothing we diverted from late on. These were players that we were in the market for or we were in and around it for some time.

"You often find in the window, the things that become frantic are the ones you quickly divert from, because you hear someone else was available.

"That wasn’t the case really. At the same time, we were probably a bit surprised they all fell into place.

"We were in and around these signings. Did I suspect that we would land all of them? Maybe not.

"We have managed to that, which is incredible and fair play to everyone at the football club who are behind that – recruitment, owner.

"In terms of the business we’ve done, I think we’ve done very, very good, astute business. Financially very good. Quality that can help us now for the remaining part of the season, one million per cent as well.

"We’re partly in a fortunate position that this club has positioned itself over a period of time now that big clubs, big players feel this is a place for them to develop and give their players over to develop and it’s got a good track record.

"We’re in a fortunate position in that. I was very pleased with the five we’ve got."
