SCOTT Parker declared himself "very pleased" to see James Hill make his Cherries debut, adding: "He's got big quality."

Hill came off the bench during the closing stages of Saturday's 1-0 victory over Barnsley.

The 20-year-old was thrust into action following Gary Cahill's late red card at Oakwell.

He, alongside fellow centre-back Lloyd Kelly, helped close out the victory, despite the visitors being a man light for added time.

Hill, who signed from Cherries in January for around £1million from Fleetwood Town, had been an unused substitute for the previous two matches before making his debut at Barnsley.

Reflecting Hill's brief first performance in a Cherries shirt, Parker told the Daily Echo: "I was very pleased for him.

"He's come on, he's a young boy. He's got big quality, that's why we've brought him in.

"He's still very young in his age, has a lot of development to do.

"It was a big debut for him coming on with 10 men at that moment, obviously having to see the game out and I thought he did that very well."

Hill could get his first start for Cherries in Sunday's FA Cup clash with non-league Boreham Wood at Vitality Stadium (6.30pm).
