CHERRIES have reportedly agreed a deal with Newcastle to sign goalkeeper Freddie Woodman on loan.

Scott Parker’s side were close to completing a move for the 24-year-old in the summer, but BBC's Kris Temple now reports that he is set for a medical tomorrow.

He would join Peterborough United forward Siriki Dembele, who the club earlier today have agreed a fee for their permanent transfer, if they can push through the formalities before the 11pm transfer deadline.

Parker confirmed has confirmed that Cherries are on the lookout for a goalkeeper, following Orjan Nyland’s injury.

Nyland is set to miss between six and eight weeks due to a calf problem. Mark Travers impressed again as Cherries won 1-0 at Barnsley, and has missed just one Championship game this season.

The position is a man short with only Will Dennis and Cameron Plain as back-ups.

The Daily Echo understands Woodman had agreed a season-long loan switch to Cherries, only for an injury to Magpies' first-choice stopper Martin Dubravka to scupper the deal.

Woodman made five appearances for the first-team this campaign, with the last coming in September.

Woodman had an impressive loan spell with Swansea City last season, playing 45 matches and keeping 20 clean sheets as they made the playoff final.
