CHERRIES have agreed a fee with Peterborough United to sign winger Siriki Dembele.

As reported by Sky Sports, Cherries will now look to agree personal terms with the 25-year-old, ahead of tomorrow's 11pm transfer deadline.

Dembele has been subject of interest from Cherries for much of the month.

Peterborough director of football Barry Fry revealed last week they had turned down two bids from Cherries for the former Grimsby Town ace.

Birmingham City saw an offer accepted, reportedly of around £1.5million, but Fry explained Dembele declined their advances, with Cherries potentially his preferred choice.

Blackburn Rovers were on Sunday morning reportedly lining up a late move for Dembele, but Cherries have now stolen a march on their rivals by agreeing a deal with Peterborough.

Dembele has made 24 appearances for Posh in the Championship this season, scoring five goals and providing two assists.

He played a key role in Peterborough's promotion from League One last season, netting 11 goals and setting up 14 more.

But he is now close to saying goodbye to London Road and becoming Cherries' third signing of the January window, following in the footsteps of James Hill and Ethan Laird.

Discussing the potential departure of Dembele earlier this week, Fry said: "There is no way we will sell him on transfer deadline day.

“Because that would give us no time to sign a replacement.”
