HAMWORTHY United will have to deal with all of Horndean’s threats – rather than focus on goal scorers Connor Duffin and Zak Willett.

Tim Sills’ men will travel to the league leaders this weekend, with kick-off at 3pm.

The two strikers have already scored 53 league goals between them, with Duffin sitting atop of the Wessex Premier league goalscoring charts with 28.

Willett is joint second with Brockenhurst’s Silvano Obeng on 25 goals, highlighting the fire power Horndean possess.

Manager Sills is of course wary of the duo’s prowess but believes that too much attention paid to their title rivals’ strikers could allow Horndean success in other areas of the pitch.

Speaking about the trip to the league leaders, Sills told the Daily Echo: “I think that's it - there’s not one player that we're going to focus on.

“We'll work out how they play, and we'll make sure that we can do our best to stop that and stop their strengths as much as anything and try and look at what weaknesses they've got.

“But, it's the same with every game.

“We’ll approach it with the mindset that we can win the game and, it's going to be probably one of our toughest test of the season, I've got no doubt about that - especially going there.

“But the form we’re in and mentality we’ve shown at the moment, we shouldn't fear anyone.”

Victory over Horndean would be a huge boost in Hamworthy’s bid for the title, but the Hammers do currently enjoy three games in hand on the Portsmouth-based outfit.

Part of the reason Hamworthy are a few games behind is due to their deep run in the FA Vase, with the Hammers into the fifth round where they will face Tunbridge Wells, a side sitting ninth in the Southern Counties East .

Sills was pleased with the draw – largely because Hammers avoided Wessex rivals Brockenhurst!

He continued: “Absolutely, I mean a home draw is everything.

“I’ve been telling people, I wanted to avoid Brock because we’ve played them three time to season and I'm bored of them to be perfectly honest!

“We just wanted a home tie. It doesn't matter who is against, last 16 in a country at 600 who enter it, then it's going to be a good side. So, we'll prepare for that when it comes, but we've got some massive games between now and then.”
